The product, researchers say, is essentially a Viagra-like drug for women in which the main problem is decreased sexual desire, as is the erectile dysfunction in men.

The data show that the prevalence of this disorder, known medically as sexual desire hipoactivo- affects between 9% and 26% of women in the US alone. Flibanserin is currently used as a drug in the field of research and only take women participating in clinical trials.

The researchers gathered data from four clinical trials with flibanserin conducted in the US, Canada and Europe. Here are the details:

The researchers concluded that treatment with 100 milligrams of flibanserin once a day was associated with significant improvements over placebo in the number of sexual encounter, sexual desire, reduced discomfort associated with sexual dysfunction and overall sexual performance.
